The twins take after their grandmother. They love music. They love shoes. And they have the same curly hair. They also like my jewelry, chocolate brownies, the piano and Fridays.

Weekend at G & G's Resort
Nathan and Andrew stayed with us for the weekend, while their parents went to a wedding. We dug Rebecca’s pool out of storage and blew it up. The boys weren’t sure what to make of the four air cushions and drink holders in it, but enjoyed it anyway. It didn’t take long to figure out how to let the air out. They are in daycare at Motorola and that’s probably covered in Toddler Engineering class.
On Sunday, the boys had been napping and I asked Grampa how long they had been asleep. He responded without hesitation, “Two hours and eleven minutes.
This weekend I learned:
If you put the pool on a slope, you have a shallow and a deep end. Our shallow end was 3” and the deep was 6”.
It’s okay to plan your life around food and sleep. Your chance of success is better that way.
Three meals and three snacks work best.
The sound of chimes and a breeze is just as beautiful in your backyard, as at an expensive resort. Good thing, too, because we won’t even be going to a cheap resort.
Grandpa, when are you going to let Gramma come out?
Thank you, Auntie Becca for loaning us your pool.
“Snack, snack, snack!"

Who's Shirt Is This?
Andrew’s wondering why they didn’t put this outfit on his brother. Gramma didn’t put this on him. I used to put a button on Ryan Joseph that said, “there’s no other like my mother.” I guess all parents have lapses.
Bubbles are very serious business.
Nathan’s shirt says “Team Player.” Perhaps he selected his own outfit. (I know Matthew won’t like that I call them “outfits”). I just couldn’t call a onesie an ensemble.
What Grampa learned from his grandsons:
Children learn at a very early age that cooperation works.
Grandpa was helping out by giving the boys their lunch, while I was meeting with a student. To keep the boys within range, he lays chairs across the doorways to the kitchen and family room. As he was working, he heard a scraping noise. When he went to investigate, the boys were standing one on each side of the overturned chair, working together to slide it away from the doorway.
What Gramma learned”
If you add corn syrup to the bubble mix, you get bigger bubbles. I already knew if you add corn syrup to your diet, YOU get bigger.

Bubbas
Rebecca moved out this week, so the boys now have a room of their own. The cat is also gone. He screamed the whole way to Chicago. The boys were here to see him leave. When Rebecca put him in his carrier, Nathan was very concerned and tried to figure out how to open it for him. One of their favorite and earliest words was “cat.”
They enjoy “Bubbas” with their friend, Linnae. They like to “pop, pop” the bubbles. Bubbles don’t light up, flash or make noise, but are still a favorite with children. There’s something so refreshing about that.
This is Andrews’s “Whatcha talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?” face. It’s right up there with his “fish face” and his “silly face.” Andrew likes to wrap fabric around his neck like a cape. It reminds me of his father’s superman pajamas. I don’t think he wears them anymore, but if he does, it would explain Andrew’s tendency. He also enjoys doing “The Wheels of the Bus” for an audience.
What I learned from the twins this week:
The fingerprints that I used to try so hard to remove from the mirrors and the windows, are actually beautiful memories. After they go home, I sometimes wait a couple of days to remove them, because they remind me of the fun we had together. I have found no sentimental excuse for the dust left for days, but I’m trying to keep an open mind.
There aren’t enough Fridays in a week to satisfy a grandmother.
